It was another dark night. Another long day in the lab. But now it was time for Janet to go home.
The experiment had turned out well that day: Only three test subjects died. She really felt she was on the verge of a breakthrough.
It was a good thing the city had a thriving population of test subjects. Subjects that had no recourse. Subjects no one would miss.
Janet hurried past the cages where the long, low whimpers of the men hung in the air like frost.
Time to go.
