One hundred years ago his grandfather had fought in a war.
He remembered the stories told by the old man: the time the unit drove the enemy from the village, for example. “It felt like it was damn-near impossible to get them all. I hated them for what they did to the civilians. But, sure as Hell, we did it. We liberated the village.”
And now, one hundred years later, it was his time for glory.
