The stacks of books crowded the space.
There was hardly any spot that didn’t have a pristine tome stacked upon another pristine tome. Yes, enough of a space to rest at night (if there was still such a thing), and clean one’s self (for what purpose? they already knew each other quite well already). Food blocks took up no space as they were dispensed from the wall whenever needed. The ladder to the outer area had already been withdrawn. They had no need or means of return.
Now they would only know the outside world from the printed page.
